Lining up for flag retirement after the meeting - Troop 1086

An “Orienteering” overview at our troop meeting

While we won’t claim to have a perfect record, at each of our meetings we try to focus on a topic related to a merit badge or rank advancement requirements. This week’s topic was “Orienteering”.

This week’s theme wasn’t completely random. We chose it because, next week, our troop meeting will include an orienteering exercise at a local park. Our ASPL was at the park earlier planning out the activity for the Scouts, and he will lead the activity at our next meeting.

“Youth-led” at its best!

So, in order to prepare, a few of our older Scouts did an orientation review for the troop. We have a number of Scouts who have only been with the troop for a few months, and we wanted to make sure they were prepared for the meeting at the park.

After all of their hard work, we concluded the evening with a game of volleyball and some cupcakes. We even had a visit from Esther the Comfort Dog, who is always welcome at any of our meetings!
