Another Eagle Project In The Works!
Our oldest Scout, Kyle, is currently a Life Scout. This is the rank right before Eagle…the highest rank that can be achieved by a Scout.
Achieving the rank of Eagle is no simple feat… It takes years of effort. It’s not simply about what the Scout has achieved. It’s also about what the Scout has done for his troop and for others in his community. The Eagle Rank places extra attention on “giving” by requiring the Scouts to complete a service project that is 100% focused on helping others in his immediate community.
For his project, Kyle chose to help out the local VFW. He’s building 2 sets of cornhole games that they can use and enjoy for years to come. His project has already been approved by the Eagle Board, so now his focus is on completing the task. As usual, the entire troop helps out in any way they can.
A Scout’s Eagle Project isn’t just about the end result. It’s also about learning how to lead a project. Leadership is a key focus of the BSA, so naturally leading Scouts (and adults) is a key part of an Eagle Project.
Family, friends, and others in our troop helped Kyle today as he made significant progress on his project. This project is one of his last requirements for the Eagle Rank. So, I’m sure it won’t be long before we’re congratulating him for achieving this prestigious goal.
Great work, Kyle!
