Congrats To Our Latest Eagle Scout!

Congratulations to Kyle! As of tonight, he is the latest Scout from our troop to earn the prestigious Eagle Rank!

Our troop has reached another milestone. Tonight, another one of our Scouts has earned his Eagle Rank!

Our troop has been very fortunate… Despite the fact that only a small percentage of Scouts attain Eagle, numerous Scouts from our troop have earned this Rank during our troop’s history. Tonight, we get to add one more to the list!

It doesn’t just happen…

Achieving this rank is no small feat. It requires a lot of hard work from the Scout. Kyle had to complete at least 21 merit badges, which cover a variety of topics and skills. He also had to progress through all of the Ranks as he worked his way towards Eagle. Each Rank includes numerous requirements. Some of these requirements involve personal achievements. Many of them include activities that involve the whole troop. Others focus on leadership skills, including various requirements to hold leadership positions in the troop in order to guide and support other Scouts.

Achieving the Eagle Rank also requires a huge time commitment. Scouts start down the trail to Eagle when they first join the troop, which for many Scouts starts after they’ve completed the 5th grade. Several of the ranks require the Scout to hold the given rank for a minimum time period. This means that, in order to complete the requirements before the Scout turns 18, a fair amount of planning is required.

Serving The Community

While at the Life Rank (the one right before Eagle), the Scout is also required to complete a service project that benefits others in the community. For his project, Kyle worked with the local American Legion to build them two sets of cornhole boards for tournaments they have at their facility. He started the project last year and completed it earlier this Winter.

Supporting Each Other

While the Eagle Rank is a very personal achievement, it’s not something a Scout can do on his own. It requires support from family, troop adult leaders, and other Scouts in the troop. The enormous support and encouragement given to our Scouts by others in the troop is one of the reasons we’ve been blessed to have so many Eagle Scouts with the “86” patch on their sleeve.

Once again, gratulations to Kyle on his achievement!
