The Event
Every year in February (On Scout Sunday) our troop hosts our annual Chili Dinner and Silent Auction event at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. The dinner is held in the school’s cafeteria from 10:30 AM until 3:00 PM that afternoon.
As the name implies, the main course of the meal is the chili. Several members of the church graciously volunteer each year to make the outstanding chili for this event. In addition to the regular chili, they also whip up a spicy variant for those who like a little extra kick to their chili.
Along with all of the standard add-ins for chili (onions, cheese, etc), we also have hot dogs. While you can have them plain, most people go for the chili dog option, which is always a great choice. We’ll also have drinks and desserts for you to enjoy as well.
Of course, this is an all-you-can-eat event. Once you finish your first bowl, be sure to grab another. You can mix it up all you want… You might start with the regular, get the spicy version next, and then top it off with a chili dog. No one leaves hungry!
Silent Auction and Prizes
In addition to the meal, we’ll also have a silent auction during the entire event. Local businesses, families, and our own Scouts have graciously provided numerous items that you can bid on throughout the day.
We also have numerous door prizes that will be handed out during the day. When you purchase a ticket, hang on to the ticket stub. It includes your door prize number. Throughout the day we will draw numbers to hand out prizes to those in attendance. So, don’t rush off once you’ve finished eating. Spend a little extra time browsing through the silent auction items and listen for the next door prize drawing. While you’re there, grab another bowl of chili!
All For A Great Cause
All of the proceeds from this event go directly to our troop.
Troop 86 has a LONG history of serving the youth in our community. We do our everything we can to provide the best program possible while also keeping the costs for the individual Scouts as low as possible.
Our program runs all year long. Rather than spending time on numerous fundraisers throughout the year, we instead have one big fundraiser each year…the Chili Dinner and Silent Auction. This allows us to spend the rest of the year providing a great experience for our Scouts. Rather than spending time trying to support their troop, we want our Scouts to get outdoors and learn something new with their friends!
As stated above, this fundraiser directly benefits our troop and its Scouts. We use the funds in various ways, such as monthly camping trips, events, activities, awards, and other similar items. We also use the funds to help offset the costs of recurring operational costs such as BSA registration, maintenance to our trailers, and similar items.
Your support directly impacts every one of our Scouts!
Because of your help, we can provide this program to our Scouts at the lowest possible cost. Every adult leader in our troop volunteers their time to help our Scouts, and your support through this fundraiser allows them to provide the best experience possible to our youth.
Donations
For those who wish to do more, we are always looking for monetary and silent auction donations from individuals and businesses in the area. If you have an item or service you would like to donate, please let us know. We greatly appreciate the help!
THANK YOU!
We wish to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who supports our group through this annual fundraiser. This not only includes everyone who purchases a ticket and enjoys a great meal but also the countless volunteers who help make this event possible. We truly cannot thank you enough!
