General PLC Meeting Information

The Patrol Leaders Council is a group of youth leaders that plan the troop’s events and activities. This page describes the purpose of the PLC Meeting.

Once a month, the youth leaders meet for a Patrol Leaders’ Council (PLC) Meeting. As with nearly all meetings and events, the adult leaders are present, but the meeting is run by the youth.

More specifically… The PLC meetings are run by the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL). He, along with the other youth leaders, plan out the meetings and events coming up in the next few months. Our troop typically meets on the first Monday of each month. (The schedule is adjusted whenever that date falls on a holiday.)

As with all meetings, planning is key. Since the PLC meetings are run by the SPL, it is therefore the SPL’s responsibility to ensure that preparations are made for the meeting, and that the meeting is run efficiently and on-schedule.

PLC Meeting Attendees

The PLC is made up of the following youth leaders:

  • Senior Patrol Leader (SPL)
  • Assistant Senior Patrol Leader (ASPL)
  • Patrol Leaders (PL)
  • Troop Guide
  • Troop Scribe

Meeting Agenda

Ideally, when the PLC meets, the current month’s plans have already been made. The PLC simply finalizes any details that need to be worked out. They then move on to the following month’s activities. It is not necessary for the PLC to plan out every aspect of a meeting or event. This task can be delegated to other Scouts who can complete the planning details at a later time. Those details can then be communicated to the SPL at a later time.
